What can you see from Camlica Tower?
Because the tower stands on a hill on the Asian side, it looks across the water to the European side rather than down on top of it. Facing west and north, you follow the Bosphorus as it winds between the two continents, with its suspension bridges crossing the strait. Facing south-west, the historic peninsula appears across the water, its domes and minarets lined up along the skyline. To the south, the Asian shore runs towards the Sea of Marmara, and on clear days the Princes’ Islands are visible offshore. Which observation deck has the better view: the 33rd or the 34th floor?

Can you see the historic peninsula and the Bosphorus at the same time?
Yes. The tower’s position on the Asian side puts the Bosphorus and the historic peninsula in the same field of view, which is what makes the panorama unusual: few viewpoints in the city show the strait, its bridges and the old city’s skyline together from above. The mosques of the historic peninsula, the Galata district and the modern towers of the European side all appear along the same horizon.
When is the best time for the view?
The clearest views usually come on dry, sunny days, when the air over the Sea of Marmara is clean enough to show the Princes’ Islands. Can you take good photos through the glass?
